#design: Oliberte
Good calls Oliberte the “Anti-TOMS” not that it steals shoes from little African kids but it creates its shoes in Africa essentially one upping the TOMS philanthropic business model and taking it to its next logical extreme. Tal Dehtiar is the Canadian founder of Oliberte, he believes that African based goods producers can compete on a global level and empower the African people to no longer need the TOMS of the world. In my opinion, this practice seems to be more sustainable but production of items other than shoes may be a challenge. But I applaud Dehtiar for being set in preventing African from becoming the next china (when it comes to the quality of the products) and for selling the pride of africa not the pity.
