Daschund Bit the Mailman in the Ear

An exercise in problem solving that illustrates the quote (or problem) the “daschund bit the mailman in the ear”. This illustration (or resolution) is simple but allows for the viewer to connect with deeper meaning and technically exercises skill that mixes media.

There are two main references; the first integrates the popular  video game portal for the playful nature of the game and the second connects to the graffiti artist Keith Haring overall in the style of the illustration but also in how the character is posed as well as the abstraction on the part of the dog. The dog that Haring illustrates many times is what inspired the style for this piece. This is a unique solution to the problem of the daschund and lies outside the realm of “likely solutions” which was a primary goal for this concept. Adding to this is the hand drawn elements that mix with digital craftsmanship to combine very different but relational forms of media.
